Five Best Places to Drink Champagne in Reims by Lucy Edwards

Reims is the undisputed beating heart of the Champagne region. While the grand Houses line the avenues, the real pulse of the city is found in its wine bars, legendary local haunts, and low-key tasting rooms.

Whether you are looking for rare grower cuvées, a late-night glass alongside local winemakers, or a cellar list deep enough to drown in, here are the absolute best places to drink like a local in Reims.

The Glue Pot

The Vibe: The ultimate winemakers' dive bar. Why Go: Don't let the pub-style name fool you. The Glue Pot is an institution in Reims. It is famous across the region as the late-night watering hole for local vignerons, cellar masters, and visiting wine trade. The wine list is astonishingly deep and reasonably priced, making it the place to order something exceptional without any pretension. The dishes are also delicious and very generous. Lucy's tip: Ask the owner Stephane to introduce you to some rising stars in the champagne world. If anyone knows, its Stephane.

Sacré Burger

The Vibe: Gourmet smash burgers meets serious Champagne culture.

Why Go: Proof that Champagne doesn't always need white tablecloths, Sacré Burger pairs high-end, locally sourced burgers with a surprisingly sophisticated, hyper-curated Champagne list. It is fun, energetic, and perfectly captures modern French dining where top-tier wine meets high-concept street food. Lucy's tip: if you're in Reims in April, watch out for their legendary street party.

Le Clos

The Vibe: Open-air patio energy and endless by-the-glass options.

Why Go: Best known for its sprawling outdoor courtyard, Le Clos is the go-to spot on a warm afternoon or evening in Reims. The venue boasts an incredible wall of bottles and an extensive rotation of Champagnes by the glass, giving you the freedom to taste your way across different terroirs and styles in a casual setting.

Lucy's tip: although their courtyard is a lovely relaxing place for a glass in the early evening, it can get pretty lively later in the evening. One of the best places for live music in Reims.

Club Trésor de Champagne Boutique

The Vibe: A slick, dedicated tasting room for underrated grower champagnes. Why Go: Located near the Boulingrin market, this stylish boutique is dedicated exclusively to the Special Club producers—a collective of independent growers committed to creating vintage champagnes of exceptional quality. It’s equal parts wine bar and boutique: you can sample curated flights under a ceiling famously lined with upside-down champagne bottles, then buy your favorites to take home. Lucy's tip: Go for the Degustation speciale du moment, which includes three tasting glasses from three different producers.

Le Vintage Wine Bar

The Vibe: Low-key, intimate, and relentlessly focused on great wine.

Why Go: Tucked away in the city center, Le Vintage is a sommelier’s playground. The selection strikes a perfect balance between iconic Houses and small-batch grower champagnes, complemented by a knowledgeable staff that genuinely loves guiding you toward your next favorite bottle. Pair your glasses with an exceptional plate of local cheeses and charcuterie.

Lucy's tip: Chef Thomas is the "Oeuf Mayonnaise champion" of 2026. Highly recommend paired to an opulant cuvee with a bit of age.

Honorable Mentions: Late Nights & High Dining

  • La Paix (at the Best Western Plus Hotel de la Paix): When midnight passes and the rest of Reims goes quiet, La Paix steps up. Open late with an outstanding selection by the glass, it is the city's legendary nightcap spot. You never quite know which winemaker will roll in at 2 AM for a coupe to fight off jetlag after returning from a international sales tour.

  • Le Parc at Domaine des Crayères: For a world-class luxury experience, book a table at the two-Michelin-starred Le Parc. Housed in château built by Madame Pommery for her daughter Louise when she married Prince Melchoir de Polignac, their champagne list is a legendary leather-bound encyclopedia of rare vintages, prestige cuvées, and back-catalog treasures served with immaculate precision. For a more relaxed experience, have lunch in Le Jardin, their garden bistro.

  • Restaurant Gabrielle: Perched up high with front-row, breathtaking views of the Reims Cathedral, Gabrielle a new contemporary French restaurant with a great champagne list, making it the place to book if you want to drink revel in the glory of Notre-Dame.
